Information on MathBuilders
- What is MathBuilders?
MathBuilders is a problem-solving-based summer program designed to
prepare students for their first middle school/high courses algebra.
- What is the purpose of MathBuilders?
To give students who have already demonstrated some interest and ability
in mathematics/science a head start in algebra, thereby increasing the
chance they will perform at a high level when enrolling a regular algebra
course.
- What are the components of Mathbuilders?
- Daily lectures and quizzes
- Two hours of homework daily
- Problem-solving exercises
- Algebridge exercises
- Competition between small groups
- Parent involvement is encouraged
- Who is eligible to participate in MathBuilders?
Participants must be enrolled in regular academic courses, have a grade
point average 1.5 to 2.5, be planning to take algebra the school after
participation, and have an interest in mathematics and science. Students
should have completed their pre-algebra class.
